The Deep might not have become as popular if Jacqueline Bisset had not worn a white T-shirt. As she emerged from the water, it hardly covered anything. The filmmaker is alleged to have boasted about how this piece of clothing made him wealthy. Bisset was also elevated to sex symbol status as a result of this, but she was dissatisfied. “I’d like to bring my public image more in line with my reality,” she told Roger Ebert in 1982. It resulted in “a lot of misconceptions,” she said. Bisset told the New York Post in 2018 that she felt like she was “going to die!” when she saw it onscreen.

There are few outfits as legendary as Tim Curry’s Frank-N-Furter attire from The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Despite its box office failure, the film sparked much controversy. While it is now well-known, it only recently developed a cult following. You can’t go to a party these days without seeing someone dressed like Frank-N-Furter. Sue Blane deserves all of the credit for the costumes. “Fortunately Tim had worked in a corset before, so he took to it like a duck takes to water,” the designer said in 2011. She was astounded by the number of people dressed like Frank-N-Furter she observed at the movie screenings. That’s not terrible for a film that’s been prohibited in many locations.
