In the film, Theda Bara wore a lot of pretty raunchy clothes. Because of this, the Hays Code labeled the film “obscene.” There are churches that have discovered copies just to destroy them. What we do know is that for the picture, the actress wore a snake-like metal bikini. Even in this day and age, this kind of attire would be deemed risqué. There is a list of cuts that they had to make in order to continue to exist. There are references in the film about ripping out “snake breast plates” and a “objectionable costume,” among other things.

Apparently, Ben Affleck’s red Daredevil leather costume did not make the cut because it displayed too much. Instead, it is on the list because it was simply terrible. It appeared far too little for any of us, let alone a superhero. The outfit had an S&M flavor to it. This merely goes to prove that some things are not meant to be so closely adapted. It did not sit well with the actor. “By playing a superhero in Daredevil, I have inoculated myself from ever playing another superhero,” he told Hollywoodland reporters in 2006. Wearing a costume was an embarrassment for me, and it’s not something I’d want to do again anytime soon.” Regardless of what he claimed, he went on to create Batman in 2016.
