He struggled to adapt to the shift and is now a pastor at his father’s church and a Starbucks manager. He is conscious that some may look down on him, but he is clear about his objectives. “I lost a lot of money. I had a wonderful ability that I had lost. Those outside looking in say, ‘Wow.’ I’m 43 years old and have four children. “I have to pick up the pieces,” he said. In 2019, he was hired as an assistant coach by the Milwaukee Bucks.

Michael “Sugar” Ray Richardson dominated the NBA court for 24 years. Unfortunately, his career was cut short when the commissioner issued him a lifelong ban in 1986. After that, he continued to perform in other areas globally, including 14 years in Europe. He retired in 2002 and tried his hand at coaching for a few years. He did, however, find his calling as a substitute teacher. He’s currently in his fifties and works as a teacher in Oklahoma. He also assists with a youth camp for underprivileged youngsters!
