The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) show was held a little differently this year. The award show was pre-taped and did not have a banquet or red carpet event but rather had a docu-series feel when it came to the “I Am An Actor” stories. The winners in 13 different categories were announced and the best part is the stars still dressed up and showcased their fits, just in an unusual way…
The chartreuse colored gown was designed by the French fashion house, Louis Vuitton. The dress was a combination of two sketches that were in the end combined. The embroidery itself took more than 140 hours as there are more than 10,000 gold and silver metallic sequins that had to be bonded together. Davis looked stunning and took home the award for outstanding performance by a female actress in a leading role.
Emma Corrin has gone for some rather unusual red carpet looks and likes to play a character even on the red carpet it seems. For the SAG awards, she went with a collaged Prada dress which symbolized a collage of personas with all its aspects. Grey satin lace which represents the 1920’s, French blue sleeves, and an apron pleated skirt of Scottish influence. She paired the dress with chunky boots.
This beige Alexander McQueen number was just simple, elegant, and sexy all a the same time. The dress’s corset-style bodice accentuates her figure and adds an enticing feel whereas the skirt displayed some ruffling and pleating, which was playful and different from just any ruffled skirt. However, the color was different and captivating too- Errivo was one of the presenters for the virtual show. She went all out with the Forevermark jewels which included earrings, six rings which added up to 13 carats overall.
Leslie Odom Jr.
Leslie Odom Jr. wore a suit by Berluti and he definitely is enjoying his dress sense this award season. The hues incorporated a variety of colors and he paired it with a matching turtle neck underneath. Odom dressed his look with chunky black boots and a statement ring. This look has for sure been one of the statement pieces of the SAG awards.
Mindy Kaling has been on the radar for a while and her career is definitely at a high, she looked flawless in an Alex Perry electric-blue gown. The elegant dress had a cape attached with some shoulder detailing that we are seeing is super in right now. Shoulder padding and accentuation are being seen as a major new trend. Kaling wore David Yuman jewels which included starburst earrings and rings.
Jamie Chung made a statement as her clutch said it all. She wore an Oscar de la Renta number. The off-the-shoulder, ruffled sleeve dress had a plunging v-neckline and a midi-skirt which showed off her Stuart Weizman heels. She also posed for pictures at a Firehouse which looked super cool. The star kept her jewelry simple and elegant.
Washington noted that the award show was going “swimmingly” and then took a plunge straight into her pool, another perk of at-home award shoes. She wore a Law Roach beaded dress that was paired was an Old Hollywood-inspired headpiece. Her jewelry was from Bulgari and her ankle-strap sandals were Loriblu. Washingtons dress and headpiece were definitely crafted and beaded for some time.
Anya Taylor-Joy has been showing out at all award ceremonies attended, making statements and simply looking flawless. this time around for the SAG awards she did nothing less, she wore a light pink and black embroidered Vera Wang gown. The romantic piece displayed an asymmetrical neckline, a low-cut back, and black lace detailing. The look was accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewelry valued at $800,000.
Lily Collins is becoming a more recognizable face by the minute with the relatively new series ‘Emily in Paris that has swept the globe and stolen the hearts of millions. She looked ever so elegant and pretty in this pink minidress by Georges Hobeika. The dress was dazzled in embellishments and displayed her magnificent legs. The pink peep-toe pumps were the perfect pair.
Smollet wore a hot-pink/ fuschia-colored Zuhair Murad gown. The off-the-shoulder high-low gown is from his pre-fall 2021 collection. The poofed dress displays tulle underneath to give it some more volume, as well as the plunging neckline yet the firm bodice, looked great on Smollet. She paired the look with some breathtaking Bulgari jewels that included both diamonds and rubies.
The Duke embodied his character in his look and we loved it! The Louis Vuitton suit was suave to say the least. Louis Vuitton’s dark velvet tuxedo as matched with a Louis Vuitton shirt and a pair of loafers. Very European. He added a VRAI diamond lapel pin and earring that was super lowkey. He looked handsome, classy and to top it all of after the announcement he will not be in ‘Bridgerton’ season 2 this was not what we needed.
Vanessa Kirby wore Givenchy and looked sleek, elegant with a major flair. The bodice was metallic silver whilst the brazier and skirt were plain black, a very interesting shape and look to the bodice. She wore her hair slick back in a bun allowing the focus to truly be the bodice. The look was paired with Cartier jewelry, a ring, and earrings that showcased some magnificent diamonds.
The 46-year-old Ted Lasso star stunned in this little red dress. The tight red dress embodied a square neck, black straps, and a high slit which showed off and accentuated her figure beautifully. The Dolce & Gabbana-designed dress was a winner and has been one of the statement pieces of the SAG award dresses. Waddingham went for a pixie-style hairdo, as well as a fresh face and rather natural makeup look.
Saint Laurent was the choice for the stunning Abbey Lee. They opted for a black minidress that looked somewhat like a wrap dress. The one-shoulder detail added a bolder statement with the shiny sequins. She paired the dress with polka dot tights and a more relaxed hairstyle. Whether it was the photo edit, being in black and white or just her magnificence she truly looked as if she just stepped off the runway.
Georges Chakras Couture as seen exactly on the runway was worn by Merle Dandridge. A different take than most other actors- and embellished plunging top, paired with tailored tuxedo trousers. The blue sash adding that pop of color which we then see is added in her earrings. Paired with simple stilleto’s and a wavy tied-back hairdo- she looks truly stunning. The actress wore a variety of jewelry not from one specific place, whereas her makeup was simple and understated.
Gillian Anderson’s latest role which she has been majorly in the spotlight for is as Margaret Thatcher in the hit drama series ‘The Crown’. She looks breathtaking in this elegant Dolce & Gabbana red gown. The floor-length draped dress accentuates her small waist, with its sweetheart strapless neckline it gives off a very elegant feel. She is wearing tons of Chopard bling to finish off the look including a 43.11-carat necklace that is from the “Green Carpet Collection.”
Pink seems to be making its way throughout award show season and this Prabal Gurung number was impossible to miss. The dress was designed with puffy sleeves and a flower right in the center. The look was then paired with matching Louboutin pink pointed heels and Messika jewelry. Messika dolled her up with two rings and a pair of earrings.
