Spray a mixture of salt and water in places where ants like to congregate. The ants do not cross salty areas. So aim your spray at window sills, doors, and other entry points for ants. The ants are repelled, and you are not exposed to nasty insecticide fumes. Another option is to mix the salt with boiling water and throw everything straight into an anthill. This guarantees many dead ants but may not kill all of them.

Your movie accompaniment can be more exciting than just butter and salt. Cinemas use salt flour (superfine salt) to flavor popcorn. In that case, all you need is your food processor (you can also use an inexpensive coffee grinder – just keep in mind that you don’t want to use it for coffee anymore, so it will be a spice grinder for the rest of the time). Grind the table salt in the food processor until it is super fine (about 10-15 seconds). You can use kosher salt, all you have to do is grind it a little longer.
