Making A Scene
“That’s it!” thought Baker. He stayed in place and then said nonchalantly, “Can I speak to your manager?” Without a word, she walks to one side and shouts at the back of the kitchen. She returns her empty stare at Baker, and then a lady comes out in response to her call. She starts looking at Baker, and then at the queue behind him, “What’s the problem here, sir? You’re holding up the people behind you.”

Baker saw where the behavior of the worker had come from. This is not really going to be fun and interesting, he realizes. He ignored the demeaning accusation that he is the reason for such ridiculous lines and tried to explain what had actually happened and how the issue he observes in her establishment must be fixed by management. Her remark was completely unexpected.
