Lil’ Kim Then
Lil’ Kim (born Kimberly Denise Jones) was born and raised in Brooklyn and began rapping while still in her youth. In 1995, she teamed up with the late Notorious B.I.G. (Christopher Wallace) and his party Junior M.A.F.I.A. for her big break. At that point, she was just 19 years old. Kim and Biggie started dating and dated on and off until Biggie’s death in 1997. “Hard Core,” Lil’ Kim’s debut album, was released in 1996. Producers included their #1 songs, and the album was certified double platinum. Kim’s following two records both went platinum, establishing her as a true powerhouse.
Kim Now
The infamous “It’s like the more wealth we come through, the more issues we see,” B.I.G. wrote in a song named Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems. When she was catapulted into fame and the eventual mistakes that come with it, the line seems to have stayed true for Kim. In the years after she emerges as an artist, she’s had many legal and financial problems. Kim’s outrageous cosmetic surgery on her face is one of the most shocking modifications she has undergone. She doesn’t look much like the Lil’ Kim we all adored in the 1990s.
