Many people make New Year’s Resolutions when January rolls around, hoping to stick to them for a good part of the year. The issue with resolutions is that a lot of people don’t stick to them! On track for a month and then the motivation slowly fizzles away. We’re here to help you kickstart the New Year with a bunch of healthy tips, ensuring you’ll continue them until December 31st!
Take charge of your health and overall well being with these food habits for 2019…you’ll thank us later!
Meal Plan
Meal plans are proven to keep people on track, especially those with super busy schedules. Instead of you and your family facing the daily “what’s for dinner tonight?” talk, prep ahead and plan all of your meals for the upcoming week. Go to the grocery store and make sure all of the foods you need are in your fridge and pantry before the start of the work and school week. You’ll save time, energy and calories! It’s a win-win-win!
H20
Staying hydrated may be one of the most important aspects of weight loss, if not the most crucial. 4-6 cups of water a day is the goal, but more is okay too. Those who don’t drink enough water may feel weak, tired and have a constant lack of energy. Oh, and they’ll end up eating more or often eat thinking they’re hungry when they’re actually just parched. Buy a reusable water bottle and set reminders on your phone to drink…your body will thank you later!
Rainbows
Rainbows aren’t just in the sky, they should be in your diet too! What do we mean exactly? Your daily intake of foods should be of all different colors, preferably green, orange, red, blue/purple and yellow items. Foods of these colors have the most nutrients and fibers and could potentially protect against both illnesses and cancers. Always remember…colorful is better!
Enjoy
Enjoying what you put into your body is just as important as eating healthy, nutritious foods. Many dieters and exercise fanatics sidestep this last tip, but it is crucial! Those who aren’t enjoying what they are eating will without a doubt fail, and start right back at square one. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy…you’ll be both happy and healthy at the same time!
If all of these tips at once seems like a bit of an undertaking, start slow, and try out one at a time. Small changes equal big results. Happy 2019 and happy healthy eating!
