Shalane Flanagan

Shalane Grace Flanagan used to be a well-known long-distance runner. With her impressive skills in the sport, she won a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, specifically in the 10,000-meter event. Later in her athletic career, she realized that she could do better at marathon running, so she left her career as a long-distance runner and competed in marathons. That choice led her in winning the New York Marathon that took place in the middle of 2017. Now a retired athlete, Shalane is keeping herself busy coaching other runners.
