She got her first taste of international fame in the ‘80s. In those days, she won the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest. She competed for Switzerland both times.

In 1999, she had been enjoying the height of her success when she stepped back to spend more time with Rene after his cancer diagnosis. In 2002, she came back and signed a contract to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on a nightly basis.
