Massachusetts — Everett High School
Everett High was a dominant team early in the days of football. By 1915, they already had 9 state titles. They won 4 state titles in the ‘60s and suffered a 32-year drought until they reclaimed the state title in 1997. That success then kicked off a streak of 13 titles in only 20 seasons. All of these came under the leadership of head coach John DiBiaso. We bet they will increase their 28 state titles in the future!
Montana — Butte High School
Butte took home its first state title of 26 in 1900 and the most recent one in 2012. The longest gap it had between titles would be from 1941 to 1967. The high school might still have the highest number of state titles in Montana, but it has not gotten back-to-back titles ever since 1967 and 1968. Butte has a rivalry with Butte Central, which was the topic of the 1989 book by Patrick Kearney called “Butte’s Big Game.”
