Newark High has yet to win a state title ever since 2004. The school has not reached the championship game since 2011 either, but its record of 10 state titles is still the most titles in the state. Former coach Butch Simpson led the team for 39 years and took home 9 state championships, which includes 5 consecutive titles from 1997 to 2001. In 1998, the state team featured Kwame Harris, Rich Parson, and Orien Harris!
