Garland and Minnelli only had one child – Liza Minnelli. She was born on March 12, 1946 and would rise to stardom herself. In 1972, she received the Academy Award for her performance in the musical Cabaret. She is also renowned as a singer and has held performances in Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall during the ‘70s and up to the 90s.

The marriage between Vincente Minnelli and Judy Garland did not have a happy ending. The two divorced in 1951. Their marriage woes were said to be caused by Garland’s tendency to engage in self-destructive behavior. She was plagued by anxiety, depression, and insecurity and was reported to take amphetamines and sleeping pills. After MGM ended her contract, Garland underwent a nervous breakdown and attempted to kill herself. She also started seeing another man which eventually led to an end to her marriage.
