As promised, the Queen gave another announcement about the decision of her grandson and his wife. She said, “Following many months of conversations, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family.” It was quite a shock since it suggested that the royal family knew of the plan for a while now. She reiterated that Harry, Meghan, and Archie would “always be much-loved members of my family” and that she is supportive of “their wish for a more independent life.” She also added, [I am] particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family.” The statement emphasized how much she values her family.

Queen Elizabeth displayed empathy for Harry and Meghan with her statement. She wrote, “I recognize the challenges they have experienced,” which confirmed that the press coverage was a factor in the decision. She also recognized the work they have performed as senior royals by saying they will keep honoring, “the commonwealth and beyond.”
