Speaking of Second World War films, Steven Spielberg’s 1998 film Saving Private Ryan easily made a name for itself as a modern classic. Try to remember the scene shared by Tom Hanks and Matt Damon, specifically the one where they reminisced about the things they left at home. Damon tells a story of his brother and girl. There might be movies that are funnier than This is Spinal Tap, but we can’t think of any at the moment. It definitely helped that a large part of the movie was apparently the result of improvisation between the actors. That’s how they got credited as writers for the movie! Exhibit A: “It’s such a fine line between stupid and clever”. Yes, that was delivered off the cuff!
