Raw Cranberry Morse (Морс)
Morse is a traditional Russian drink made of berries, honey or sugar, and water. It can be great served chilled on warm summer days, and also useful in the winter to help combat illness. Some benefits include colon cancer and cold prevention, reducing fever, improving mood, helping with digestion, and improving the health of your kidneys. It only has a few ingredients and can easily be made at home.
Ingredients:
700 grams fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup sugar or 4-5 tbsp agave or maple syrup
3 liters water
Instructions:
1. If you use frozen berries, allow them to defrost to room temperature.
2. Place the cranberries in a blender and blend until smooth. Use a mesh strainer to remove extra liquid and set it aside. You will add it back in later.
3. Put the strained berries into a large saucepan and add the water.
4. Boil for 6-7 minutes.
5. Add the sweeter (sugar, honey or agave) to the mixture and boil it until it dissolves. Let the mixture cool down and add back the juice that was separated.
Enjoy!
