Shower Curtain
While shower curtains are relatively cheap, don’t be tempted to buy a new one each time yours gets dirty. Normally, they’re made of PVC, a very harmful material, and buying a new one can give off fumes and damage your health. Especially when you breathe them in a steaming hot shower. Believe it or not, cleaning shower curtains is easier than you think. Just grab some laundry detergent, 1 cup of baking soda, some light-colored towels, and 10 drops of tea tree oil (to kill any mold). Toss the curtain and the towels in the washing machine with the mixture on a 40-60 laundry cycle and everything should come out much cleaner.
Oil Spills
If you have some kind of oil stain you want to remove, whether it’s on a carpet, your shirt, or anywhere else in the house, use baking soda. It can absorb grease and oil on any kind of cloth. Before sprinkling some, scrape off any excess grease. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes and allow it to absorb the oil. After that, vacuum off the excess and wash the stained fabric in a cold cycle.
