Whatever the case may have been, Diana and Dodi were clearly having a good time together. The couple agreed to go on a cruise together in Sardinia at the end of July, even though the paparazzi were not far away. Photographs of the couple cuddling on Dodi’s yacht were released in August 1997 while Diana was in Bosnia for an anti-landmine event.

In France Once Again
By the end of the month, the couple was back in France, this time in Paris, where they stayed at the Hôtel Ritz. Diana stayed in their suite while Dodi went to a jeweler to get the ring that the princess was expecting, according to a 2019 article in the Daily Mirror. They chose to dine at the posh Benoit restaurant on the evening of August 30, 1997.
