It came from her toy chest. Patricia suspected that it was a dead battery in one of her new toys. She couldn’t have been more mistaken.

Toby and Patricia searched Amber’s toy box for the source of the beeping sounds. It had nothing to do with her teddy animals or handheld video games. When the beeping started again, they could hear it clearer. Toby continued to dig and dig. It’d have to be somewhere!

It was the doll that Amber had received for her birthday. Toby and Patricia had quietly mocked how strange it appeared, but when they saw it in the light, they realized it had been sloppily glued back together. It’s no surprise it has unusual dimensions. But why would anyone hack a doll open?
