Ann Margret
Traveling back in time for a little bit, here’s yet another public figure, who was a cheerleader before becoming a silver screen megastar. At New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, the Swedish-American actress, singer, and dancer was a cheerleader. We don’t know about you but we can see that Margaret had star potential and extraordinary talents back in the day based on this picture. Her singing and acting careers span five decades, beginning in 1961; she was originally billed as a female version of Elvis Presley. She has a sultry, vibrant contralto voice. Just look at that warm glow in her eye as well as the power stance that she infuses.

Cheerleading is not all rainbows and unicorns, and the competitive sport can become risky for some people, although not in the way you are thinking. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was a high school cheerleader in Marlboro, N.Y. before Jersey Shore, Polizzi revealed, “Cheerleading was my life in high school, but it wasn’t always easy for me. I started to be anorexic. There were freshmen, who were 70 pounds and I was, like, my spot as a flier is going to get taken away. So I ended up starving myself.” Not only is she a professional wrestler, but Snooki is also a great dancer and has competed on the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars, in collaboration with newcomer Sasha Farber. We could see that her works valued her cheerleading background.
