Phyllis Smith
You might only know her from her quiet role on The Office, but Phyliss Smith has quite an exciting past. In the 1970s and 1980s, Phyllis worked as a dancer, a cheerleader for the St. Louis Cardinals football team, and a burlesque performer. However, she suffered a knee injury that forced her to quit. After that happened, she worked in Hollywood as an actress and in casting. As a matter of fact, she’d been working as a casting associate on The Office when she was offered the role of Phyllis Vance, a character that was made specifically for her.
Sela Ward
Before she became an actress, author, and producer, Sela Ward was a cheerleader at University. She cheered for the Crimson Tide football team of the University of Alabama. Once she graduated and earned her fine arts and advertising degree, she decided to pursue an acting career. She had her big break by playing the role of Teddy Reed in the famous NBC series, Sisters. She went on to win an Emmy for her performance in the role.
