Courtney tried to stop the tears, but she failed miserably. With the check in hand, she went inside the back room. Seeing that she was distraught, her boss thought something really bad had happened.

Perhaps it was a mistake or the man couldn’t see very well. Maybe he thought he needed to pay more or he meant to give $10.00 instead of $100. These scenarios sounded unlikely, though. Courtney just couldn’t believe that he really meant to leave a tip of $100.
