New Hampshire

As you might already know, the official motto of New Hampshire is “Live Free Or Die.” This promise of freedom has motivated some Americans to relocate to the Granite State. A New Hampshire resident called dcs1289 told us what makes the state so great on Reddit: “There’s no sales tax, no state income tax, cheap liquor, and legal fireworks!” There are still downsides, of course: “Property taxes are high… [and] the climate is pretty extreme –– below zero temps in the winter, up to 100+ in the summer.”

Rhode Island

While Rhode Island is the smallest state in the country, it has a charm that has been creeping up on people. The Ocean State shot up by six spots on the ranking of inbound moves by United Van Lines in 2019. Sadly, new residents have to deal with high price tags over here. Did you know that it is one of the most expensive places to live in? “I love R.I., but it’s expensive,” shared a Redditor called mooscaretaker. They went on, “Taxes are high, and cost of living is high. Make sure you have a job before moving.”
