This hugely popular television show launched in 2001 and has been a huge hit ever since. Its underlying premise is also simple. Producers held singing auditions across the country to identify the next American Idol. For the vast majority of the millions of applicants, there is no chance. Before auditions have even taken place, scouts have apparently been dispatched to find the greatest vocalists. It makes me sad that it was all a sham.

Despite this, what you see on television is not always accurate. The producers are thought to be reversing the application process. Catfish must apply to be a part of the show in order to be included.
