I Lost My Body (2019)
Escaping from its unhappy fate in a laboratory in Paris, a severed hand goes on a journey to reconnect with its body. In a hair-raising escapade in the French city, the extremity defends itself from rats and pigeons alike in order to reunite with the pizza boy Naoufel. The hand’s memories of Naoufel and the boy’s love for librarian Gabrielle could provide answers about how the hand got separated. A poetic backdrop could also make a reunion between the three possible. This Cannes Critics’ Week selection is based on Academy Award nominee Guillaume Laurant’s (Amelie) novel “Happy Hand”.
