Klynn Scales was raised in a rough neighborhood by her mother and brothers. It’s not a good place to grow up, but it was Klynn’s reality. Klynn’s mother was rarely around because she had to work long hours to pay the bills and support her family. As a result, Klynn was frequently required to care for her brothers in place of his mother. That is a lot of responsibility for someone who is still a child.

Klynn took care of her brothers as the oldest in the family, when both parents were frequently absent. She’d worry about them not having enough food, so she’d walk through her difficult area to 7-Eleven. In a desperate attempt to survive, young Klynn stole from stores to obtain necessities. Klynn and her siblings’ story is obviously tragic, but it is encouraging to consider their perseverance. No child should have to grow up in such deplorable circumstances, yet they thrived in the face of such adversity. Klynn grew up to be an excellent mother to her brothers. Her love motivated her to do everything, even if it meant sacrificing her health.
