Not Coming Home Tonight
John exhaled a sigh. He reasoned that it had better be worth his time. He stood outside the house, keeping an eye out for any activity. And he texted his wife to check how she was enjoying her evening. She assured him that everything was alright, but she had misplaced her car key and would spend the night at the home of a friend.

This puzzled John. Why didn’t she simply phone him and request that he come pick her up? But something happened outside the house just as he was ready to call her. The father drew the shades and sat with his daughter in front of the window, peering out at the street. Why would they do something like this?
