Stuck Fireplace Damper
The damper is one of the most important components of a fireplace. The door at the top of the firebox is this one. This means you must keep this damper clean, and if it becomes stuck, it may be hazardous.
Begin by scraping all of the debris from the damper with a firm wire brush. After all of the soot and build-up has been removed, spray the damper with WD40.
Lime Deposits
You might have hard water where you live, depending on where you live. This simply means that your water contains more minerals, which can cause lime build-up in your sinks. However, you are not obligated to live with the lime deposits.
You can do this by soaking some paper towels in white vinegar. Then spread them out over the areas where there are a lot of lime deposits. This should help loosen the lime and remove the deposits, but it may also discolor the surface.
