Gianni, who arrived to Boston on a student visa from Italy, was enrolled in a Nuclear Physics class when he met Rose. He was in his senior year of college and saw Rose nearly instantaneously. After only six months of dating, the pair felt forced to express their love further. Rose was ecstatic when Gianni proposed to her! They were eager to begin the next chapter of their lives. The pair had moved in together and had already explored starting a family! However, the couple received some horrible news from their reproductive doctor.

Rose had long sensed that there was an issue with her uterus. Before she and Gianni began attempting to conceive, she opted to get a medical examination due to her irregular menstrual cycles. Regrettably, she was correct. Due of a hormonal imbalance within her body, Rose’s doctor informed her that her uterus was ruled uninhabitable. Even though this was treatable at the time, the damage had already happened. The couple’s inability to conceive naturally became evident. Fortunately, the doctor went on to explain that they would have an extremely high likelihood of conceiving through IVF. The couple nodded in agreement from the outset; they would begin IVF virtually immediately.
