This civilization is highly military. From 16 to 60, all men capable of serving as soldiers — particular sources mention 15 to 70. In his 2017 book The Mongol Art of War, Timothy May calculates that one out of seven Mongolian inhabitants was a warrior.

If they have a way to lose the loyalty of your men, they won’t pay them their sandy deserts, they think. And while the Mongols had little to do with the wage, the warriors were lavishly created. But this was the rule for Genghis Khan. It should not be surprising.
