There might be a psychological reason for a cryptic pregnancy. In some cases, the person who’s pregnant might be so stressed or afraid about being pregnant that they reach the point where they’re in complete denial about being pregnant at all. Additionally, there is research that has shown contradictory evidence. In a minority of cases, cryptic pregnancy is related to psychiatric disorders like schizophrenia, depression, and personality disorder. However, since it was only in a minority of cases, it’s not recognized as a feature of cryptic pregnancy.
