For more than seven years already, Melina Salazar worked as a waitress at a restaurant called Luby’s in Brownsville, Texas. It is not easy to wait on tables, but she never fails to smile and give the customers the best possible service. In her first week, she got to know more about the regular customers. In particular, there was one man that was rather infamous among the staff.

The staff was very familiar with an elderly gentleman called Walter “Buck” Swords. The 89-year-old war veteran liked to go to Luby’s to grab a bite every day. Melina was still a trainee when his table was assigned to her. It was her first week on the job, but this turned out to be a baptism by fire! By then, the staff members already knew that he tended to be a difficult customer.
