Hammond revealed in his memoir that he self-harmed frequently behind the scenes at SNL and was once admitted to a psychiatric ward. In Hammond’s abusive childhood, his mother stabbed, slapped, and tortured him. This behavior is a result of this abuse. Later, he was diagnosed with PTSD.
Lorne Michaels Banned Two Episodes
Lorne Michaels has two episodes of Saturday Night Live he wants to keep in the vault. Louise Lasser, an actress and writer, hosted the first episode of season one. She claims her ramblings were in reference to her Mary Hartman character, and that her manager had the episode canceled because of it.
The second episode, in which comedian Milton Berle appears, has been banned. The former vaudevillian made racist jokes, referred to everyone with derogatory terms, and then got a standing ovation for it all on his own accord.
