Sammartino said that he fought Inoki while they were in a match back in the ’70s. According to Sammartino, he disapproved the behavior that Inoki was showing in the ring, so he dealt with his foe in quite a brutal manner. While on the sideline during a tag team match, Inoki started fighting Sammartino, so the Italian Strongman put Inoki in a headlock, almost incapacitating the Japanese wrestler. The two never did make up, but they never had other professional problems either.

Bill Goldberg Versus Steven Regal
When Goldberg was scheduled to go up against Regal, the WCW rookie was having a winning streak. There are conflicting reports regarding the reason for Regal going off-script, but he basically blindsided Goldberg with moves which the younger wrestler had not seen before. Regal claims he was told by the higher-ups to make the fight last only six minutes, but nobody told Goldberg, which caused this routine fight becoming a real life scuffle inside the ring. The match exposed Goldberg’s unreadiness to be part of the big boys.
