Scott hears derogatory remarks about his height all the time, whether in his personal life or in mainstream culture. He specifically mentioned TikTok, where jokes regarding men’s height are common. “I don’t know how many times I have to hit the dislike button for your algorithm to learn I don’t want to see jokes about height” he said. He reports the TikToks for harassment and abuse, only to be told that the app checked out the video and found nothing wrong with it.

Scott sought limb-lengthening surgery as a result of such comments and criticism in his daily life. For this specific surgery, the doctor splits both femurs and implants a titanium rod that slowly swells inside the patient’s body, permanently increasing their height. Scott wasn’t always sure about these types of surgeries, but started to come round to the idea.
