Open Shelving

Unless your theme is “eclectic collector,” you can avoid using an unnecessary amount of open shelving. Seriously, the plates and bowls aren’t distinctive enough to be shown for us to see. Instead, take the energy and channel it into your dining room, bedroom, or other room where you have things to show that speak to your personality. People would not be impressed with dirty mugs and pans.

Pot Racks

Unless you’re cooking in a sun-drenched Tuscan villa, put the pots away in the cabinets like anyone else.
