Tiled Countertops
Tile is one of the great technologies that has found its way into our houses, but often people make the mistake of using it as a countertop material. One phrase explains that this is such a rookie mistake: grout! Unfortunately, whether you use a dark-colored grout (which we do not recommend), the lily-white grout can get nasty quickly. Not to mention the possibility that the grout will finally break and split, and you’ll be faced with a new challenge.
Distressed Cabinets
If you like to pretend that you’re staying in Paris during the French Revolution, can we suggest cabinets like this? It’s one thing to add character, but decaying wood next to the toaster you just purchased at Target isn’t really what we’d deem natural. Although several methods for having the cabinets seem weathered, scratching the varnish off and watching them rot is not one of them.
