Robert “Bob” McNair owned the Houston Texans. This businessman and philanthropist went to the University of South Carolina and had fairly bad luck with business during his twenties and thirties. Things changed when he founded a cogeneration company called Cogen Tech and sold it to Enron. He also owned a number of power plants and Palmetto Partners, Ltd. He served as the CEO of the McNair Group as well. He had a net worth of $4 billion.
Gayle Benson
Franchise owner Gayle Benson took over a number of sports team after her husband Tom died. She basically inherited these franchises! The New Orleans native started out with a career in interior decoration. Her husband named her his heir even though many people thought that he would choose his kids instead. The squabble even went to court, where she emerged victorious as the official owner of his assets. The biggest of which might be the New Orleans Saints! She is now worth $2.8 billion.
