When given that opportunity at the music event after the cancellation of The Incredible String Band, Melanie Safka has chosen to make her breakthrough. She was one of very few three women at the event who got to play. She was strong enough to pull off an absolutely gorgeous and memorable performance despite her nerves, which she said triggered her voice to quiver.

Janis Joplin
One of the most loved performers of all time remains Janis Joplin. She ended up giving a goosebumpy performance of Piece of my Heart on the second day of the festival. Janis Joplin certainly did belong on the Woodstock stage with her unique character and exceptional talent.
