The Paleo Diet
The Paleo Diet, which is also referred to as the caveman diet, centers on eating natural, unprocessed foods. It is similar to many other types of diets in that it promotes eating lean protein, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Paleo takes it further by focusing on natural foods that our ancestors would have hunted and gathered such as grass-fed protein sources and organic, locally grown produce. Eating as natural as this diet encourages its followers to do can be very healthy. This particular eating plan does, however, eliminate almost all grains, beans, legumes, and dairy. To buy natural, organic, and grass-fed foods can be a bit pricey for the average person. It may be difficult to stick with this diet as entire food groups are basically eliminated. Megan Fox has attributed her great figure to eating principals found in Paleo. She has bounced back after two babies and stays in incredible shape due, at least in part, to having followed the Paleo Diet.
The Dukan Diet
This diet plan was created in 2000 by the French practitioner and nutritionist Pierre Dukan. The Dukan Diet is based on high protein intake and is similar in some ways to the Atkins or Paleo Diets. The good thing is that you can eat all you want as long as the foods are on the approved list. The difficult aspect is that the approved foods are somewhat limited. Eating primarily lean protein with a little bit of oat bran is the starting phase of this eating plan. There are basically four phases involved in the diet. The first phase is labeled the “Attack” phase. The second phase of the program is called the “Cruise” phase and you’ll be able to add vegetables to the diet at certain times. The “Consolidation” allows some breads and cheeses. The last phase is called “Permanent Stabilization.” While there are a lot of do’s and don’ts during each phase, for those willing to follow the plan it’s reported that they can lose up to 10 pounds in the first week. Super model Gisele Bundchen has reportedly been on the Dukan Diet. Mrs. Tom Brady helped make this diet famous when using it to lose weight after the birth of her son.
