John Updike

John Updike is a novelist that was born and raised in Pennsylvania. Sadly the man passed away at the age of 76 but before he went he did many great things to bring to the public forefront the plight of psoriasis. When Updike was a kid he was asked what he wanted to do with his life. He immediately ruled out anything in public, due to the fear of his psoriasis. It was this fear that led him to become a Pulitzer Prize winning author. He included many references to psoriasis in the subtext of his novels and even made public the desire for change in the treatment of psoriasis medication. As a writer he made his hay with his realist forms of prose, brought on perhaps by his own realistic world view.
