Oksana Baiul

Only a few years after an independent Ukraine joined the international sporting community, Oksana Baiul was the first Ukrainian to win gold at the Olympics. She is still the only Ukrainian skater to win gold at the Olympics. She took skating because she was told that she was not suitable for ballet. After returning home from the Games, she moved to America and started her professional ice skating career, including Broadway on Ice. She also began her lines of fashion and jewelry.

Gracie Gold

Gracie Gold has a name that forecasts gold, but gold that eluded her is a medal for Olympic gold. She had to be a confusing name when she was summoned to stand on the podium after winning bronze at the team event in the Winter Olympics in 2014. Gold did not compete and began coaching at the 2018 Games. It did not last, however, and soon she was back in training, intending to make the U.S. team for the Winter Olympics 2022.
