Nancy Kerrigan
Nancy Kerrigan, born in Massachusetts in 1969, already showed figure skating talent at an early age. Kerrigan became controversial when rival Tonya Harding’s husband ordered someone to attack her. Despite the injury that she has, she bravely came back to win a silver medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics. Many believe that Kerrigan has a significant chance of winning the gold if the attack didn’t happen. Despite the circumstances, she continued to compete in several different ice shows. Kerrigan also started a foundation to support and raise awareness for the visually impaired as her mother is also one of them. Kerrigan now appeared in movies and TV as guest appearances, and she is now enjoying her motherhood, raising three children, and living with her husband in Massachusetts.
Dorothy Hamill
Dorothy Hamill started skating when she was eight, which isn’t the youngest the world has seen, but by the age of twelve, she was beating other girls at competitions. Hamill was known for her moves on the rink as well as her bobbed haircut. She was nineteen years old when she wowed the world with her routine and won a gold medal in the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. Hamill has this own very move called Hamill Camel, where the skater changes a camel spin to a sit spin. She remained one of the most famous athletes decades after her performance and made quite a lot of TV appearances over the years. In her professional career, Hamill toured with the Ice Capades from 1977 to 1984. Her performance in Romeo & Juliet On Ice won a Daytime Emmy. Hamill later revealed in January 2008 that she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She moved to Nantucket, Massachusetts, for the therapy and currently works with Nantucket skating club. Hamill also continues her work with several charities. She has one daughter.
