Originally bred as a hunting dog, these dogs do not really get along with small animals such as hamsters and kittens. A lot of them suffer from what we like to call small dog syndrome. It means that they make up for their tiny size with lots of attitude! They can be good with kids if there is no rough play involved. One must be careful not to manhandle them since they tend to act aggressively when mistreated.

The Dalmatian was originally bred as a guard dog and hunter of small rodents. These dogs are pretty reserved towards their fellow dogs and need constant love and affection from their owners. The spotted creatures might scratch and bite when you do not give them enough attention. Dalmatians can be great family dogs when you have older kids. However, this might not be the best fit if you have little ones.
