Bull Terriers

Best known for their shark or egg shaped heads and muscular physique, Bull Terriers are first when it comes to pound-for-pound lean muscle tissue. Aside from this, they also tend to be softer and less aggressive than other terriers. Even so, you should keep in mind that they still have a strong “prey drive.” It means that they are independent, aggressive, and stubborn. When you give them proper training, there is a good chance that they will be fun and spirited. Still, it is not a very good idea to keep them around small kids.

Boer Boel

A variation of the South African mastiff, the Boer Boel is huge and stately-looking. These powerful dogs were originally bred to become guard dogs in that country and were used as the first line of defense against lions and other predators. They were invaluable when it comes to tracking and holding down game as well. This intelligent breed is protective and loyal, which are good traits in family dogs. However, they are also known to be gladiators! A fluffier family dog might be a better fit in your home.
