Hand-Picked Players
It might look like they randomly select members of the audience to join in, but they are actually hand-picked before the taping starts. One blogger who went to a taping even said that potential contestants are chosen based on the enthusiasm that they show while they are in the line. If a crowd member manages to impress producers with their excitement during an interview, they might be able to get more screen time than the others.
Choreographed Clapping
The strict choreography is not only limited to the singing and dancing routines on the show. You might think that the members of the audience can whoop, holler, and clap to their hearts’ desire, but this is not the case. As a matter of fact, the people on the set receive cues when and how to act from a designated member of the staff.
