Florence Henderson (Carol Brady)

Born in 1934, on Valentine’s Day, America’s sweetheart Florence Henderson is best known for playing the matriarch Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch. Before she landed her gig with the bunch, Henderson appeared in hit musicals on Broadway, such as Wish You Were Here (1952) and Fanny (1954). She was always keen on singing and dancing. At two years old, she was taught by her mother to sing, and by Henderson’s 12th birthday she was already doing regular performances at the local grocery store in her town.

Henderson After The Show

After The Brady Bunch, Henderson did pretty well for herself and went on to become the first woman to co-host The Tonight Show. She did become famous for her role as Carol Brady, but she continued to appear on TV after that. In 2008, The Florence Henderson Show started airing and she had appeared on 30 Rock, The King of Queens, and The Cleveland Show. She was ranked number 54 on Entertainment Weekly’s list of 100 greatest TV icons. On Thanksgiving in 2016, Henderson passed away at the age of 82.
