Ann B. Davis (Alice Nelson)
Best known for portraying the quirky advice-giving housekeeper Alice on The Brady Bunch, Ann B. Davis had appeared on other well-known television shows, such as The Ford Show, which starred Tennessee Ernie Ford, before she landed her Brady Bunch gig in 1969. She has admitted in interviews that acting wasn’t really her first career choice, but after watching a theater performance of her brother, she switched from her pre-med major to theater drama.
Davis After The Show
Alice was such a popular character that only Davis and two other actors appeared on every single episode of The Brady Bunch. When the show ended, Davis went on to reprise her admired role in six various spin-off series. In 1974, she made a decision to quit show business and joined an Episcopalian religious community. She moved to Denver, Colorado, and became a born-again Christian. Davis passed away at the age of 88 in 2014.
