The woman told Darren that her name was Mrs. Wood. She was there to look into a possible “situation” that involved Natalie and her parents. Apparently, the family doctor had gotten in touch with her and talked about the bruises on her legs. Darren could not believe what was going on. He had never even thought about laying a hand on his daughter! Sadly, it was hard to prove that this was the case.

After speaking to Darren, she introduced herself to both Natalie and Pam. Mrs. Wood went into the girl’s room and locked the door behind her. “What’s the meaning of this?!” Pam asked Darren. Before he could even start to talk, she already left in a huff. He felt nervous and paced in the hallway as the social worker talked to Natalie. What was going to happen to them after this? He doubted that Mrs. Wood would get a lot of information out of his daughter, but you never know what was going to happen.
