Meghan Markle will get her U.K. citizenship after the wedding. That doesn’t mean she gets all the rights as any other “average” citizen. She and other members of the Royal Family cannot vote, run for office, or state their political views. The reason behind this is to prevent members of the public from modeling their opinions or votes.
